Our Mission As Parents
Drug abuse among teens is a growing problem throughout the nation. At ages as young as elementary school our children are being exposed to drugs and faced with peer pressures. In order to avoid our children from becoming another statistic in teen drug abuse we need to work to education them as best as we can to make the right choices. That is the overall goal of parents, to keep our children on the right track in life and safe, keeping them free and clear of drugs.
Marijuana, The Gateway Drug
Statistics show that marijuana is typically the first drug abused by our nations youth. Marijuana use is more wide spread among youth than alcohol. According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, 21.4 percent of high school seniors used marijuana in the past 30 days in 2010. It is a common misconception that marijuana is not addictive. However, the National Institute on Drug Abuse statistics show that 1 in 6 people who start using as a teen, and 25-50 percent of those who use it every day, become addicted to marijuana. This makes education and parental awareness of what their teens are doing more important to help their child avoid a life of addiction in the near future.
